
Overview of the NTIS Sport Framework
The NTIS is the Northern Territory Government’s sporting centre of excellence for the identification, development and support of the Territory’s talented and elite athletes. Its primary role is to provide high quality services and support to these aspiring athletes and their coaches that optimises opportunity to achieve at the highest level in sport, and in life.
The following provides an overview and description of the sport program framework inclusive of the principles the NTIS uses in managing the service provision to its programs.
The NTIS provides priority support to athletes with demonstrated capacity or potential to be involved and achieve at the highest level particularly events such as World Championships and the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. At the next level, the NTIS targets under age and development athletes with potential to compete as Australian representatives or advance into the highest level of national club competition.
Essentially, the NTIS offers support to athletes through its Individual Scholarship Program and the various squad programs. These squad programs include High Performance Squads, Development Squads and the NT Partner Squads. Within the squad program, the highest priority is the High Performance Squads followed by the Development Squads and NT Partner Squads.
